Text and images smear, smudge, or flakes off when touched

When images and text smear, smudges, or flakes off the page when touched there may be a problem with the fuser.  The last step of printing is fusing.  A fuser heats up a roller and paper is passed between a heat roller and a pressure roller fusing the toner to the paper.  Smearing can also be caused by using poor quality toner or by printing on unsupported media.  Never use generic toner or print cartridges.
